Dog shows
We organise specialised shows for the Latvian Hound and other hunting breeds. These shows are an opportunity to meet breed enthusiasts, breeders and dog owners in one place, and to present your dog to judges and spectators. A show is not just a competition – it is also an exchange of experience, a chance to gain new knowledge and to better understand breed standards. Taking part helps develop a dog’s obedience and socialisation, and gives the owner fresh inspiration for working with their dog. Our goal is not only to judge dogs, but also to preserve and promote the Latvian Hound as a unique hunting breed that is part of our country’s cultural and natural heritage.
Can my dog take part in a show?
Yes, if it is a pedigree dog with registration papers and up-to-date vaccinations. Some shows also accept a “pet class” without competing for titles.
How do I prepare my dog for a show?
Ring training, obedience and grooming (coat, nails, dental care) are needed, as well as getting the dog used to the presence of people and other dogs.
How early can a dog start participating?
Usually from 3–4 months of age in the puppy class.
What documents are required?
A vaccination certificate or pet passport; proof of registration; pedigree papers if the dog competes for titles.
Are there special requirements for the Latvian Hound?
Yes – some classes require working trials or hunting performance results, as the breed is judged as a functional hunting dog.
Can spectators attend?
Yes, the shows are open to the public — a great opportunity to learn more about the breeds and meet breeders.
